1970 Dodge Challenger 426 Hemi 2 Fast 2 Furious - 1:18 Scale
1970 Dodge Challenger 426 Hemi2 Fast 2 FuriousLifestyle of the Fast and the FuriousThe Lifestyle of the Fast and the Furious is a world of attitude fueled by nitrous tanks and hot passion for the high-octane excitement of street racing. It's a world of showmanship set against a background of music and fashion where the cars remain the stars and your name is only as good as your quarter-mile time! The History of the Dodge ChallengerTo compete with the Pony car and muscle car market Chrysler designed the Dodge Challenger. It was designed to compete against the Mustangs GTO's and the Camaro's but other manufacturers had a three-year head start. The Dodge Challenger program was approved when the Pony car was into it's second generation. The Dodge Challenger was not an original design from scratch; Chrysler management would not allow the new development costs. The first step for Performance reasons was to allow all of the Chrysler engines to be put in the Challenger. In order to accomplish this Chrysler borrowed the K member support from the B body Charger and put it in the Challenger. With this support they could now put the big block 440 and the 426 HEMI in the Challenger. The intent was to use the A body Barracuda frame but it wouldn't allow the K member to fit so some redesigning was done that widened the frame. Along with this came the idea to redesign the outer body for a sleek long look to complement the widened stance. Its stance was 5 inches wider than the Ford Mustang. The final wheelbase was 110 on the Challenger and 191 inches in length 2 inches longer than any other Pony car. It was in production for only 4 years 1970 - 1974. In the 1970 model year the Dodge Challenger was presented to the public. It had 6 models - hardtop convertible and SE in both Challenger and Challenger RT. There were more than 60 options for the Challenger including 9 engines 18 colors 16 trim options and 3 different stripe configurations in up to 6 colors. The unique options were the shaker hood go wing rear spoiler A833 4 speed gearbox with Hurst 4 speed pistol grip shifter wood steering wheels and rectangular chrome exhaust tips. Also there was the slapstick auto transmission that allowed you to shift gears when you wanted to and high impact colors for exterior paint. The paint color names were Plum Crazy Sublime Go-Mango Top Banana Hemi Orange and Panther Pink. RT Road & Track-this option gave you a three spoke wood steering wheel and heavy-duty suspension. SE Special Edition-this option gave you leather bucket seats a small rear window and an overhead console. T/A Trans Am-this option would give you a fiberglass hood side chrome exhaust and a beefed up 340 engine with a six-pack carb. The T/A was also a limited production model during 1970 only. 1970 Plymouth Barracuda - 1:24 Scale
"1970 Plymouth BarracudaBig Time Muscle - Assorted ColorsThe Very First Pony CarThe Plymouth Barracuda debuted two weeks prior to the Ford Mustang. It was quickly overshadowed by the Mustang Camaro and Firebird but would make a name for itself in 1970 when it was available with an engine its competition could only dream of the Hemi. In 1970 Plymouth discovered their performance side and excelled with it. The Barracuda was moved over to the E-body platform which was only matched by the new Dodge Challenger. The Dodge Challenger’s overall body dimensions were the same but the Barracuda rode on a two inch shorter wheelbase. The new models were named 'Cudas highlighting five different V8s; the 340 383 440 440+6 and the 426 Hemi.A unique high performance suspension was installed on the 440s and Hemi cars. The customary Barracudas were equipped with a flat hood and ‘Cudas were outfitted with dual non-functional hood scoops. A hot new option on all 'Cudas was a new shaker scoop named as such because it attached directly to the engine and poked up through a hole in the hood and thus ""shaked"" whenever the engine did. This feature was standard on all Hemi's. The Hemi cost about $871 and was installed on only 652 out of 17242 hardtops and 14 out of 550 convertibles. The new Hemi had hydraulic lifters making the Hemi easier to tune than before. The 440+6 was a steal at just $250 and could keep up with the Hemi until 70 mph. Neither engine was easy to drive: the 440+6 vacuum-actuated front and rear carbs came on with little warning and the Hemi's taut throttle linkage sometimes opened all eight barrels at one time.Plymouth built a special model for 1970: the Plymouth AAR 'Cuda. All-American Racers by Dan Gurney raced 'Cudas in he Sports Car Club of America Trans-Am racing series thus came the AAR name. While Ford and Chevrolet built special models (Boss 302 Mustang and Camaro Z28) meant to mimic the race cars Plymouth assembled a street rod. Along with the similar Dodge Challenger T/A the AAR 'Cuda came equipped with a unique 340 cid V8 with 3x2 carbs that pumped out 290 bhp. The exterior was dramatically different with a matte-black lift-off fiberglass hood through body-side strobe stripes tri-colored AAR shield and standard black ducktail spoiler. The AAR 'Cuda also sported special shocks and recambered rear springs which raised the rear end 1 3/4 inches over the regular 'Cuda allowing clearance for exhaust pipes that exited in front of the rear wheelwell (after routing through the standard muffler beneath the trunk). Permitting the use of larger tires in the rear the ‘Cuda was one of the first vehicles to use wider rear tires on a production automobile.Model Features

1970's PCC Pittsburgh Streetcar - 1:50 Scale
"The Mood Was Mod1970's PCC Pittsburgh StreetcarSunburst Over PittsburghIn the early 1960’s Pittsburgh had the largest remaining trolley system in America. When the Port Authority of Allegheny County took it over in 1964 they converted most routes to buses. In the early 1970’s in order to increase ridership they came up with this psychedelic sunburst design. When fluorescent paint faded they used automotive paint and the streetcars were quickly nicknamed “Mod Desire”.Model Features
